Exocad Level 1: Intro to Exocad - Crowns, Inlays & Simple Bridges
11 DECEMBER 2026 · THE MARKET CROSS, BURY ST EDMUNDS
Build the right foundations in Exocad and start designing restorations with confidence.
Exocad is an incredibly powerful dental CAD platform, but getting started can quickly feel overwhelming. Knowing where the tools are is only the beginning - the real skill is understanding how to approach a case, what to assess during the design and how to create a restoration that is ready for manufacture.
Exocad Level 1 is a practical, hands-on introduction to digital dental design, focused on the core workflows you'll use again and again: crowns, inlays and simple bridges.
You'll work through the design process step by step, developing an understanding of both the software and the restorative principles behind the decisions you're making.
The aim is simple: leave the course able to open Exocad, approach a straightforward case with a clear process and put what you've learned into practice the very next day.
What you'll learn
During the course, you will:
- Navigate the Exocad DentalCAD environment with greater confidence.
- Understand the fundamental stages of a digital restorative design workflow.
- Set up and progress straightforward restorative cases within Exocad.
- Work through the design of single crowns, inlays and simple bridges.
- Understand how to identify and assess digital preparation margins.
- Develop your understanding of contacts, occlusion, morphology and restorative anatomy within the design.
- Learn how to assess Exocad's proposed restoration rather than simply accepting the initial result.
- Use the available design tools to make purposeful adjustments and refinements.
- Understand how changes made within CAD can affect the final manufactured restoration.
- Learn how to complete and prepare your design for the next stage of the digital workflow.
- Recognise common beginner mistakes and develop a more structured approach to avoiding them.
Course aims & objectives
The aim of Exocad Level 1 is to give delegates a strong practical foundation in digital dental design.
By the end of the course, you should understand the fundamental Exocad workflow and be able to approach straightforward restorative cases using a logical, repeatable design process.
Rather than simply following a demonstration, the course is designed to help you understand why you're making each design decision, giving you a foundation that can be built upon as you progress into more advanced Exocad workflows.
What you'll leave with
A clear Exocad workflow.
Know where to begin, how to progress through a case and what needs to be checked before completing your design.
Hands on design experience.
Work through crowns, inlays and simple bridge workflows yourself rather than spending the day simply watching software demonstrations.
Greater confidence assessing your designs.
Understand the fundamentals of margins, contacts, occlusion and morphology and how they influence the finished restoration.
More independence within digital dentistry.
Start developing the ability to critically assess and refine a digital restoration rather than relying entirely on automated proposals or somebody else to complete the CAD.
The foundation for more advanced Exocad training.
Build the core skills required before progressing into anterior aesthetics, advanced bridges, Smile Creator, implant restorations and full-arch design.
Skills you can apply the next day.
Leave with practical workflows that can be transferred directly into straightforward digital restorative cases in your own clinical or laboratory environment.
Who is this course for?
Exocad Level 1 is designed for dentists, dental technicians and digital dental professionals who are new to Exocad or want to strengthen their understanding of the fundamentals.
You don't need to be an advanced CAD designer. This course is specifically designed to establish the foundations before moving into more complex restorative workflows.
It's also suitable for existing Exocad users who have learned through trial and error and want a more structured, repeatable approach to everyday design.
