Exocad Level 3: Smile Creator - From Face Scan to Digital Wax Up & Mock Up

13 MARCH 2027 · THE MARKET CROSS, BURY ST EDMUNDS

Move beyond designing individual teeth and start designing restorations in the context of the complete smile.

A technically correct restoration isn't necessarily an aesthetically successful one. Anterior digital dentistry requires an understanding of how tooth position, proportion and morphology relate to the patient's face and overall smile.

Exocad Level 3 introduces a more facially driven approach to digital design, using Exocad Smile Creator to connect patient data with restorative planning and take a case through to a digital wax up and mock up.

This hands on course will help you understand how facial information can influence your design decisions, giving you greater control over aesthetic planning before treatment begins.

You'll work through the workflow yourself, developing practical skills that can be transferred into your own aesthetic cases and applied the very next day.

What you'll learn

During the course, you will:

  • Understand the principles behind facially driven digital smile design.
  • Learn how face scan data can be incorporated into the digital planning workflow.
  • Navigate and work with Exocad Smile Creator.
  • Understand how to align and relate different digital datasets within the patient-specific workflow.
  • Assess the relationship between the teeth, smile and facial features when planning anterior cases.
  • Develop a structured approach to tooth position, proportion, symmetry and morphology.
  • Learn how to create and refine a digital wax up within the aesthetic workflow.
  • Understand how the digital plan can be translated into a physical or clinical mock up.
  • Use the digital design to better visualise the proposed outcome before definitive treatment.
  • Learn to critically assess and refine aesthetic proposals rather than relying solely on automated design.
  • Understand how digital smile planning can support treatment planning, restorative communication and patient communication.
  • Develop a repeatable workflow for bringing facial information into your Exocad cases.

Course aims & objectives

The aim of Exocad Level 3 is to develop your ability to approach aesthetic restorative cases using a patient specific, facially driven digital workflow.

By the end of the course, delegates should understand how facial data can be combined with dental information within Exocad Smile Creator and used to inform the development of a digital wax up and mock up.

The focus is not simply on creating a visually attractive digital design. It is about understanding how the proposed restoration relates to the individual patient and using that information to make more considered restorative decisions.

What you'll leave with

A facially driven approach to digital design.
Start designing the smile in the context of the patient rather than viewing the teeth in isolation.

Skills you can apply the next day.
Leave with a practical workflow that can begin informing your own aesthetic cases immediately.

Who is this course for?

Exocad Level 3 is designed for dentists, dental technicians and digital dental professionals who already have a working understanding of Exocad and want to progress into digital smile design and more advanced aesthetic planning.

It is particularly suited to delegates interested in anterior restorative dentistry, smile makeovers, digital wax ups and patient specific aesthetic workflows.

This is the stage of the Exocad pathway where the focus expands beyond designing a restoration correctly to understanding how that restoration fits the patient's complete smile.
